*Matt is fully booked in Port Elgin and now accepting new clients in Kincardine for July* Hi, my name is Matt Minty and I am a Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I have been seeing clients since 2022, and I am curious, supportive, and understanding.

I work with clients ranging from late teens to seniors. Some of the more common topics I support clients with include depression, processing childhood trauma, anxiety, navigating careers, life transitions (moving, schooling, etc.), relationships, borderline personality disorder, and addictions amongst others.

My primary therapy techniques include cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness techniques, solution-focused approaches, and motivational interviewing. I will work with you to find the best approaches for your individual concerns. We will collaborate to identify and challenge maladaptive thought patterns, and to help you to form healthier behaviours and thoughts.

I completed a Master’s of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in 2023, which focuses on CBT techniques. I have taken additional training in Motivational Interviewing and am always looking for areas to grow.

I look forward to meeting you!

Hi, my name is Kelsey Mathison and I am an Art Therapist and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Ontario. I am a registered member with both CATA (Canadian Art Therapy Association) and CRPO (College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario). I have 5+ years of experience working in the mental health field, including time spent in community settings such as an outreach art centre for youth, facilitating a group art therapy workshop at a healing retreat, and group and individual therapies. I began private practice in June of 2024 near Halifax, Nova Scotia, and have recently returned to my hometown near Bruce County and look forward to working with Counselling Bruce County.

Who do I work with & What can I help with?

I work with all ages (3+ for art and play therapy) who may be experiencing challenges such as depression, anxiety, stress, grief, identity, and relationship difficulties. I also offer services to those struggling with transitional periods, such as adjusting to parenthood, entering retirement, or moving to a new home. I work with Art Therapy and traditional counselling, typically using CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) as my main modalities.

My Therapeutic Approach

I work from a feminist, client-centred approach, tailoring each session to fit your needs. I am direct, empathetic, and calm, striving to create a safe and supportive space for you. We may chat, have free artmaking time to express what words cannot, use guided visualizations to inspire and reach into those deeper parts yourself, or follow a structured directive that could help you better understand your journey.

Training

I completed a Bachelor’s of Fine Art degree at McMaster University, followed by an Art Psychotherapy Diploma through CiiAT (Canadian International Institute of Art Therapy). I am also working on training in Play Therapy.
What else should you know?
I look forward to putting down roots in the area and continuing to work in the mental health field in Ontario. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you as you lean on creativity to heal, grow, and journey forward.

*IN-PERSON* Adult & Couples Therapy with Elizabeth

Hi there! I bring 12 years of experience in psychotherapy with individuals and couples who experience: trauma and complex trauma, domestic violence, relational conflict, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and living with a lifelong health or a chronic health condition.

Who do I work with & what can I help with? In terms of my work with individuals, I serve people who experience: trauma and complex trauma, gender identity matters, use of violence and criminal involvement and generational trauma and reconciliation with our first peoples . Of course, matters of situational and diagnosed anxiety and depression are areas in my purview.

With our team-based couple’s psychotherapy, we can improve areas in your relationship that may be unhealthy or stuck and build a better connection. I have served people in many kinds of relationships and acknowledge that all relationships are unique and require specialized attention and treatment for healing to occur.

My Therapeutic Approach The main approach I use in my psychotherapy practice is person centered and anti-oppressive. I operate from a Relational Psychodynamic framework, which sees the therapeutic relationship (a.k.a “team work”) as the single most significant facilitator of success and positive change.

I utilize Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Somatic Therapies and Internal Family Systems (IFS). My primary treatment approach in any psychotherapy experience is the Relational Psychodynamic Therapy model. Training I have 7 years of couple’s psychotherapy practice under clinical supervision. I earned certification in Level 1 and 2 Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) from Laurier University.
