Hi my name is Tara, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). I’m a registered member of the College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario (CRPO), and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).

Who do I Work With & What can I Help With? I have a passion to work with all people, of all ages! I understand how hard life can be and am empathetic to the struggles we are all dealing with. My ideal case load includes a mix of teens, adults, and couples. I strive to support each client with unconditional regard, acknowledging they know themselves best. I collaborate with each client to come up with goals and coping mechanisms that they feel comfortable and confident in implementing throughout all areas of their lives: work, school, and socially. This may include areas such as depression, anxiety, self-esteem, work stress, school behaviours, life transitions, relationship stress, and parenting support.

My Therapeutic Approach: I enjoy building a strong therapeutic alliance with all clients using warmth, humour, and honesty; I have been known to dabble in irreverant communication! My goal for each person is to not only feel comfortable and supported, but to look forward to and enjoy their sessions. Clients will feel secure, supported, and advocated for. I excel at building a solid rapport with both teens and adults- people are my thing!

My therapeutic approach centers on person-centred therapy. Each client is different! Within this framework I work with varying theories and modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Theory (CBT), Behavioural and Acceptance and Commitment Theory (ACT) and Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT). My therapeutic modalities include Motivational Interviewing, and Strength and Solution-Based approaches. I enbrace challenge and am not afraid to explore all theories/modalities if I feel they could help my clients.

I use the Gottman Method Couples Counselling when working with couples. The goals of this methology are to disarm conflicting verbal communication, increase intimacy, respect, and affection, remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy, and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship (https://www.gottman.com/about/the-gottman-method/). Couples counselling can be especially intimate and vulnerable; I hope to empower couples with the above tools to help build strong relationships!

Training: I have previously received my B.A in Education and now my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology! I have also completed Level 1 & 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

What Else Should you Know? I am approachable, friendly, and excited to work with you! I am available for TARApy Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays throughout the day/evening. Let’s work together to help you on your life journey!

Hi there! I bring 12 years of experience in psychotherapy with individuals and couples who experience: trauma and complex trauma, domestic violence, relational conflict, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and living with a lifelong health or a chronic health condition.

Who do I work with & what can I help with? In terms of my work with individuals, I serve people who experience: trauma and complex trauma, gender identity matters, use of violence and criminal involvement and generational trauma and reconciliation with our first peoples . Of course, matters of situational and diagnosed anxiety and depression are areas in my purview.

With our team-based couple’s psychotherapy, we can improve areas in your relationship that may be unhealthy or stuck and build a better connection. I have served people in many kinds of relationships and acknowledge that all relationships are unique and require specialized attention and treatment for healing to occur.

My Therapeutic Approach The main approach I use in my psychotherapy practice is person centered and anti-oppressive. I operate from a Relational Psychodynamic framework, which sees the therapeutic relationship (a.k.a “team work”) as the single most significant facilitator of success and positive change.

I utilize Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Somatic Therapies and Internal Family Systems (IFS). My primary treatment approach in any psychotherapy experience is the Relational Psychodynamic Therapy model. Training I have 7 years of couple’s psychotherapy practice under clinical supervision. I earned certification in Level 1 and 2 Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) from Laurier University.

Hi, my name is Kelsey Mathison and I am an Art Therapist and Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Ontario. I am a registered member with both CATA (Canadian Art Therapy Association) and CRPO (College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario). I have 5+ years of experience working in the mental health field, including time spent in community settings such as youth centres and healing retreats providing art therapy; as well as group and individual therapies. I began private practice in June of 2024 near Halifax, Nova Scotia, and have recently returned to my hometown near Bruce County and look forward to working with Counselling Bruce County.

Who do I work with & what can I help with?

I work with all ages (3+ for art and play) who may be experiencing challenges such as depression, anxiety, stress, grief, identity, school challenges and relationship difficulties. I also offer services to those struggling with transitional periods, such as adjusting to parenthood, entering retirement, or moving to a new home. I work with Art Therapy and traditional counselling, typically using CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavioural Therapy) as my main modalities.

My Therapeutic Approach

With adults, I work from a feminist, client-centred approach, tailoring each session to fit your needs. I am direct, empathetic, and calm, striving to create a safe and supportive space for you. We may chat, have free artmaking time to express what words cannot, use guided visualizations to inspire and reach into those deeper parts yourself, or follow a structured directive that could help you better understand your journey. With children, I use art and play techniques to help them express their emotions when they do not have the words to support their expression of feelings. Training

I completed a Bachelor’s of Fine Art degree at McMaster University, followed by an Art Psychotherapy Diploma through CiiAT (Canadian International Institute of Art Therapy). I am also working on training in Play Therapy, however, I have received training through my art degree in some play modalities such as sand tray.

What else should you know?

I look forward to putting down roots in the area and continuing to work in the mental health field in Ontario. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you as you lean on creativity to heal, grow, and journey forward.

Hello! My name is Brett, and I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University by completing my clinical hours with Counselling Bruce County. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Autism and Behavioural Science. Having recently moved to Kincardine from Toronto, I am thrilled to join this wonderful community and give back through my passion for supporting children, youth, and families.

Who do I work with & what can I help with?

My background as a behaviour therapist working closely with neurodivergent children and youth with autism first sparked my deep commitment to supporting kids, teens, and young adults. Through roles in one-on-one therapy centers and in-school support, I’ve learned that real progress starts with feeling understood. I strive to offer a warm, safe, and judgment-free space where clients feel genuinely heard and accepted for who they are. Together, we build a trusting therapeutic relationship that allows clients to explore challenges, set meaningful goals, and grow at their own pace. I frequently help clients navigate concerns around emotional regulation, anxiety, self-esteem, identity, behavioural challenges, emotional outbursts, family transitions, social skills, peer relationships, school related challenges, and academic pressure. I am also happy to support parents with these areas so that they can continue any treatment at home, or just for their own emotional support.

My Therapeutic Approach

My practice is grounded in the core principles of person-centered care: empathy, authenticity, and consistency. I believe these elements create the foundation for a truly collaborative environment. My primary modality is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which allows me to tailor treatment to each person’s unique story and needs. I work alongside clients to help them identify unhelpful thought and behaviour patterns, process difficult emotions, and build practical, long-term tools for well-being. My clinical focus includes functional communication, positive behaviour support, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles.

Training

Along with formal training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy through the Beck Institute, I bring over three years of direct clinical experience supporting neurodivergent individuals and clients with autism. As mentioned above, I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.

What else should you know?

As a lifelong musician, I hold a deep belief in the healing power of creative expression and music. Outside the clinic, my love for animals and the outdoors continuously reminds me to approach every person and every story with patience, gentleness, and respect. To ensure the highest standard of ethical, effective care, my practice is conducted under the regular clinical supervision of a Registered Psychotherapist. I look forward to connecting with you and guiding you on your path to wellness. I will be working Monday & Tuesday afternoon and evenings. I look forward to working with you or your children!
